CAPOUSD NewsPLEASE TAKE ACTION ON S. 3206…
KEEP OUR EDUCATORS WORKING ACT

Senator Tom Harkin has introduced an education jobs bill, called the Keep Our Educators Working Act (S. 3206), in the U.S. Senate that would continue federal stimulus funding for education for one more year. This bill would provide $23 billion nationwide to school districts facing catastrophic budget cuts. California schools would receive billions of dollars if this bill is passed.

Many education groups, including California PTA, are working to get this important bill passed as soon as possible. We need you to act quickly so that our schools can receive this funding as soon as possible.

Please immediately contact Senator Boxer, Senator Feinstein, and the White House to express your support for the Keep Our Educators Working Act (S. 3206). This education jobs bill could bring millions to CUSD to help solve our budget crisis.

You can e-mail using our suggested message (below). Please also take a few minutes to let our Senators and the White House know about the impact the budget cuts have had on our schools.
(Suggested Message)
Please support the Keep Our Educators Working Act (S. 3206), introduced by Senator Harkin. We ask for your “AYE” vote on this bill. School districts across the nation are being forced to cut programs and teachers, and to reduce the school year.

· Students will suffer as fewer and fewer resources make it to the classrooms in our local schools.
· We know that the best way to stimulate the economy and to help America compete is to invest in education.
· The Education Jobs Fund in the Keep Our Educators Working Act will save or restore more than 300,000 education jobs nationwide.
